ISAS-Delhi Chapter proudly announces Two Day Seminar On Applications of Analytical Techniques for Characterization of Biomolecules, 2-3, August 2008, at Malvia Hall, University of Lucknow,
Lucknow - 226007 (U.P)

Indian Society of Analytical Scientists (ISAS) is a very active scientific forum with its headquarters at BARC, Mumbai and has more than 2000 life members. The Delhi Chapter of ISAS was established in 1992 with its headquarter at Indian Oil R&D Centre, Faridabad having jurisdiction comprising of mainly northern part of India. Delhi Chapter itself has more than 700 life members from various research institutes, national laboratories, universities, industries etc.

Aims and Objectives

Indian Society of Analytical Scientists – Delhi Chapter (ISAS-DC)  with its headquarter at Indian Oil R&D Centre, Faridabad,  is a  multidisciplinary body whose major functions are to organize seminars/workshops on various topics covering the role a of analytical sciences in various disciplines.  The society provides a common platform for Analytical Scientists to exchange ideas, help them to keep abreast with the latest developments in related fields, thus promoting growth of analytical sciences in the country. Since its inception in 1992, Delhi Chapter has organized more than 35 technical Seminars on various contemporary topics. Judging the outstanding achievements over the years, the Delhi Chapter has been awarded the Best chapter award three times (1998, 2005 and 2007) by ISAS-HQ, Mumbai.

All known forms of life are composed solely of biomolecules. Most biological molecules are made from covalent combinations of six important elements viz., C, H, N, O, P & S with few metals incorporated at trace levels. A diverse range of biomolecules exist in the form of Lipids, Phospholipids, Glycolipids, Sterol, Vitamin, Hormone, Carbohydrate, Sugar, Amino acids, Nucleotide, PeptidePolypeptide, Protein, Nucleic acids etc.  Each of these biomolecules play a vital role in living organisms depending upon the elements present, fucntional groups, orientation and structure of these molecules. Thus knowing about the nature and structure of these molecules is essential to understand their behavior and functioning in a particular biological activities / functions. Analytical techniques play an significant role in unraveling Structural mystery and the role of these biomolecules for performing various functions in the nature.

Analytical techniques play significant role in the Syntheses, Characterization   and Structure elucidation of Biomolecules. The present seminar will focus on “APPLICATIONS OF ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES FOR THE CHARACTERIZATIONOF BIOMOLECULES” for diverse applications like pharmaceutical, Drugs and medicine, natural products as well as found in living organism.
